the region and its wine
A city full of romance,
The French pronounce it as Rantnz,
The British it seems
Prefer saying Reams.

The Mountain of Reims, more tree-capped hills than a full-blown mountain, is where you will find the Grand Crû vineyards that grown some of the finest Pinot Noir in Champagne. The villages are scattered along its length with growers who make and sell their own wines. Visitors should not miss Verzeney with a fascinating museum under a lighthouse, or the famous windmill that looked out over the frontline in World War One.

Reims, unquestionably the commercial capital of Champagne, has much to entertain a weekend visitor. Splendid hotels and restaurants, an historic cathedral and
the even more ancient Basilica of St-Rémy. There are
Roman remains, a not-to-be-missed motor museum and leading houses like Mumm, Pommery, Ruinart and Taittinger.
