Tour France's 'La Champagne' - the region. Enjoy 'le champagne' - the wine.
The independent
traveller’s guide
to Champagne:
the region and its wine
A trip to Champagne would be nice,
Go once and you’ll want to go twice;
The countryside’s fine,
The wine is divine,
And the people are awfully nice.

The Côtes des Blancs is a steep chalk escarpement. Running south from Epernay is the Côtes des Blancs, where the top Chardonnay for Blanc-des-Blancs champagne are grown. Grand Crû villages, like a string of diamonds, run along its length, each with growers who are always eager for visitors to taste and buy their wines.This ends with the charming, unspoilt town of Sézanne. Co-operatives and the smaller growers, rather than the fancy names dominate here. A picturesque area, worthy of your attention. No big city here - Epernay is 25km. away.
