There's no shortage of fine place to sleep and eat in La Champagne. Indeed, you are spoilt for choice. There are, of course, luxury hotels - some with Michelin-starred restaurants - as well as a wide selection of two and three star hotels, a number of which have excellent restaurants. Well-placed signs in cities and towns direct travellers to the hotels of their choice. Small towns and villages may also have a country inn. The easiest way to reserve accommodation, a restaurant or a visit to a wine cellar is simply to telephone. Speak slowly, don't shout and be prepared to spell your name phonetically, preferably using
French town names for each letter - ‘A’ for Amiens,
`B’ for Bordeaux, `C’ for Calais etc. Hotels and many chambres d’hôtes are on email. The full guide shows all telephone numbers as if you are phoning from France. From outside France omit the zero and prefix with
00 33, so the telephone numbers in the Marne become 00 33 3 26 etc.
